GILBEYS YARD & JUNIPER CRESCENT RESIDENTS CALL ON RICHARD HILL AND ONE HOUSING TO DROP THE NEW SCHEME AND ACCEPT THE BALLOT AGAINST DEMOLITION AS FINAL

In June and July 2020 tenants and residents in Gilbeys Yard and Juniper Crescent NW1 voted against demolition and redevelopment of our 24 year old estates in a democratic ballot held by One Housing, the landlord

Now Richard Hill, the CEO of One Housing is about to rerun the ballot in defiance of the vote which he refuses to accept as final.

One Housing promised that the ballot result would be conclusive, but they now want to force through the unnecessary demolition of our 202 award winning homes built in only 1996. Despite the vote against demolition, they want to replace them with 700 high density and high rise homes over the next eight to ten years, which will be unaffordable for most local people who need them.

We are calling on our local MP Sir Keir Starmer, the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the Leader of Camden Council Georgia Gould and our local councillors – Cllr Pat Callaghan, Cllr Lazzaro Pietragnoli and Cllr Richard Cotton – to fight for our rights and guarantee that One Housing #RespectTheBallot

They must support us in our campaign to save our homes and community and tell One Housing to stop trying to undermine the democratic outcome.

During these times of such distress and uncertainty, we have had to deal with the threat of the demolition of our homes and have now made our feelings decisively felt in the ballot.

One Housing are making a mockery of the ballot process. In 2018 the Mayor introduced resident ballots as a prerequisite for GLA redevelopment funding. The GLA requires that demolition should: “proceed only if the majority are in favour”  The majority voted against demolition.

PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION

calling on One Housing to #RespectTheBallot, stop bullying the residents who have already voted against demolition, and proceed with a programme of refurbishment and retrofitting to ensure that we keep our community together.
